If you’re a summer walker who finds the thought of heading out in winter a bit intimidating, then this may be the trip for you. The aim of the day will be to provide you with a journey on terrain where you can practice good footwork, using crampons, and how to use an ice axe as an aid to safe travel. If weather and time permit, we’ll take in the summit of one of the peaks in the area. During the journey, we’ll also have a look at the decision making process involved in selecting a safe route in winter, and some of the factors you need to take into account.
It will be necessary to carry winter equipment such as ice axes, crampons and wear crampon compatible footwear. If you do not have the equipment necessary, we can arrange hire through Tiso.
For safety’s sake, everyone must be properly equipped for the day; no kit, no walk.
Transport will be available from a central location in Glasgow, at no additional cost.
