Last weekend was spent DofE’ing with a group of young people getting ready for their Qualifying expedition in the Cairngorms during the October holidays.
The girls did really well, coping with a fairly large diversion of their route due to forestry work. As a result, they arrived at their campsite later than planned, but still managed to get tents up and hot food sorted out for themselves, before settling in for the night. It’s always encouraging to hear the giggles coming from the tents after a long challenging day, even if it is accompanied by an inordinate amount of sweetie wrappers being rustled!
The weather was better than expected, with lots of sunshine between the short but heavy showers. Now feet and shoulders have a week or so to recover before they head out to finish off their Bronze award.
